“Not entirely,” Smith said. in an interview with Rolling Stone when asked if he has read fire and blood, the book on which the series is loosely based. Smith went on to joke about the length of the book, calling it “one big fucking book”. However, when it comes to his character, Smith has feelings about his character, especially regarding his relationship with his brother, King Viserys I Targaryen.

“He’s kind of weird,” Smith said of his character. “He’s not black and white, there are shades of gray with him, which is what interested me about him. And his relationship with his brother is really interesting. It was a pleasure working with Paddy Considine, whom I have admired for so long, and Rhys Ifans.”

Smith also spoke about the film’s cast, praising the star-studded group of actors who joined the show.

“It’s a great cast,” Smith said. “The characters are very, very interesting and based on the book by George RR Martin. That’s one thing we have going for us: we’re not just pulling fantasy out of thin air. It comes from the mind of George, who is really smart and has created a world that seems translatable.”

Based on George R. R. Martin’s fire and blood, house of the dragon chronicles the rise and fall of the Targaryens, who are the only dragonlord family to survive the Fate of Valyria. It will take place 300 years before the events of the award-winning series adaptation of game of Thrones which aired its final episode almost two years ago.
