Fuels: not a drop of gasoline at the station, TotalEnergies employees called for a strike this Friday

At the call of the CGT, TotalEnergies employees are invited to strike this Friday.

Not a drop of gasoline in 24 hours. Employees of TotalEnergies, service stations and refineries are called to stop on June 24.

2.35% increase for employees

While the group made a net profit (after taxes) of more than 4.6 billion euros in a quarter this year, employees, hit like all French by inflation, ask for raises.

The CGT, which launched this strike call, acknowledges that without the vertiginous rise in prices registered in recent months, the salary increase agreement signed at the beginning of 2022 would have been “satisfactory”. The latter provided for a salary increase for employees with incomes of less than 1,000 euros per month up to 2.35%.

…and 52% for the CEO

Rampant inflation has erased these wage gains. Enough to fuel discontent, especially since the group’s profits are poorly distributed, explains Thierry Defresne, secretary of the CGT of the European works council of TotalEnergies SE in french news.

“We reached a total of 10,000 million dollars that have been paid to shareholders for the year 2021. So we think that there is an imbalance. And also, compared to the 2.35% that has been delivered to employees at the beginning of the year, if we compare with the 52% increase for the CEO, we think that in this story and compared to the historical record of TotalÉnergies, the employees are the great forgotten “he says.
