Omicron: However, new studies tell us more about this symptom which is the first to appear, and which you should be concerned about. The Objeko team tells you everything in this article.
Omicron: the variant that sows doubt
THE COVID-19 pandemic is about to celebrate its second anniversary of arrival in France. And, with the new Omicron variant, it looks like the terrible disease is here to stay…
At the start of the pandemic, the hospitalization and death rate was very high. This caused a very long confinement, and general hysteria. After a very stressful period, the pandemic seemed to have calmed down. We were able to regain freedom pendant a short duration. A second wave of contamination, however, had sent us all back inside. We all remember the curfew, which had been very badly received by a French people at the end of their tether.
The vaccine then arrived, not without polarizing the population. Despite everything, the vaccinations allowed a nice decline of the disease. It was unfortunately without counting on the arrival of the Delta variant, which turned the deal upside down.
The Health Pass has been put in place to allow vaccinated people to regain a semblance of normal life in this period of doubt. And, of course, recently, it is the variant Omicron who is talking about him. This terrible variant from South Africa is extremely more contagious than the previous ones. France now has hundreds of thousands of infections per day. Fortunately, this Omicron variant is also much less lethal. This may well be the last problematic variant. In any case, that is what we hope!
Sore throats: first symptom of the Omicron variant
The Omicron variant has many symptoms, just like other COVID-19 variants. However, it should be noted that not all have the same symptoms, in the same quantity and severity. Generally, COVID-19 is considered to present as a flu, before sometimes taking much more serious turns, similar to pneumonia.
For the Omicron variant, the symptoms are much less. Most of the time, they even come close to a simple cold. This makes the diagnosis very complicated. To be sure, you have to do an antigen test or PCR. Especially in this winter period, or it may well be that it is only a temporary cold!
However, a Norwegian study showed that 72% of participants affected by Omicron suffered from sore throats. Another study also confirmed that the Omicron variant first appears in saliva, up to two days before appearing in the nose.
Yale University’s Dr. Moreno, however, said such sore throats were usually not mild. These are very intense throat words, giving the feeling of having the throat raw. If this is your case, it is time to take a test!
Vaccination pass: the new government measure
The COVID-19 vaccine has been shown to be effective, and continues to be so. Unfortunately, the appearance of variants, including Omicron, weakens its power. Thus, in addition to the two doses of vaccine, a third injection is now required of all French people. Of course, this does not suit the French who are still opposed to vaccination. And even to some who have already received one or two doses.
Olivier Véran, Minister of Health, however, intends to push the French to do their booster dose, in order to put an end to the COVID-19 pandemic once and for all. For this, the health pass will be transformed from today, January 15, 2022, into a vaccination pass. This means that to be able to benefit from the access granted to the beneficiaries of the pass, it will be necessary to have had its three doses. It should be noted that the screening tests (PCR, antigen or self-test) will also no longer be valid with the arrival of this new pass. Only vaccination can guarantee it. Thus, almost a million French people will soon find themselves with a disabled health pass by today, and in the coming weeks. People between the ages of 18 and 65 who had their last injection more than six months and four weeks ago will also have their passes deactivated. To know the deadline for your vaccination, nothing could be simpler. Simply go to the TousAntiCovid application, where you will find all the necessary information. It should be noted that the application will now display a reminder 21 days before the loss of your health pass, specifying the deadline, and the need to make a reminder. The Omicron variant has not finished being talked about…
